A delegation of Dutch businesspeople has expressed strong interest in forging investment partnerships in Mozambique, focusing on the nation’s burgeoning agricultural sector. The visiting delegation, comprising over 20 specialists in agriculture, processing, and poultry farming, explored potential synergies with Mozambican entrepreneurs during a recent visit to Beira.
Dutch Ambassador to Mozambique, Elsbeth Akkerman, highlighted the strategic intent of the mission, stating, “This meeting presented to both sides of the business community the opportunities that Mozambique has in the agricultural sector.” She emphasized the delegation’s ambition to collaborate with local counterparts for sustainable development.
The Dutch businesspeople engaged in discussions with local entrepreneurs and officials, facilitated by the Zambezi Valley Development Agency, to identify promising investment avenues. Mozambique’s abundant water resources and fertile arable land, particularly within the Zambezi Valley, present significant opportunities for large-scale agribusiness ventures.
Governor of Sofala, Lourenço Bulha, welcomed the potential investment, assuring the Dutch delegation of the local authorities’ commitment to creating a conducive business environment. “We are committed to creating all kinds of facilities to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of this goal, reaffirming the granting of incentives,” he declared.
The Zambezi Valley Development Agency confirmed that the Dutch investors expressed keen interest in various sectors, including agro-logistics, poultry farming, and seed production. These areas align with Mozambique’s strategic focus on developing its agricultural value chain and enhancing food security.
The visit underscores Mozambique’s growing attractiveness as an investment destination, particularly in the agricultural sector. The potential partnerships between Dutch and Mozambican businesses hold promise for fostering sustainable economic growth and development in the region.
