The 2025 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition is now open, calling on Africa’s most innovative young agripreneurs to showcase bold ideas reshaping the continent’s food systems. With US$160,000 up for grabs, the annual contest seeks founders and co-founders aged 18 to 35 who are driving tech-enabled, sustainable businesses across the agrifood value chain from production to consumption. Applications will be accepted in English and French until 10 June 2025 via GoGettaz.Africa.
Finalists will take to the stage in Dakar, Senegal, during the Africa Food Systems Forum from 31 August to 5 September, where they will pitch live before a high-level panel of judges. Two standout agribusinesses, one led by a woman and one by a man, will each win US$50,000, while an additional US$60,000 will be awarded to businesses making notable strides in technology, climate resilience, rural livelihoods and gender equity.
Now in its seventh year, the competition continues to position youth as central players in Africa’s agricultural transformation. At a time when infrastructure gaps, climate pressures and food insecurity loom large, Africa’s young entrepreneurs are stepping up with creativity and urgency. From AI-driven agriculture to eco-friendly food packaging and innovations in nutrition, the next generation is proving capable of building scalable solutions with local impact and global relevance.
GoGettaz not only provides funding but also connects finalists with mentorship, investor networks and training, equipping them to turn startups into long term solutions. Backed by partners like Yara International and the Africa Food Systems Forum, the initiative reflects a broader push to elevate youth-led enterprise as a driver of inclusive growth.
Co-Founder Svein Tore Holsether praised the initiative’s continued success in spotlighting visionary entrepreneurs. “These young leaders are using innovation to nourish Africa’s future while creating jobs and lifting communities,”said Holsether.
Strive Masiyiwa, also a Co-Founder, echoed that sentiment. He said, “Africa’s youth are not waiting for change, they are building it. But they need access to capital, mentorship and enabling environments to thrive. GoGettaz is one way we help them scale their impact.”
Since 2019, the competition has identified standout talent across the continent, backing ventures that range from traditional farming to cutting-edge agritech. As the 2025 edition unfolds, organisers are confident the contest will once again uncover bold solutions and rising stars with the power to transform Africa’s food landscape.
