Residents and businesses across Maputo, Matola, and the town of Boane face a temporary halt in water supply this week as the water utility implements major restrictions.
The company responsible for the metropolitan region’s water supply, AdRMM – Águas da Região Metropolitana de Maputo, has announced a planned interruption in water distribution starting Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.
The restrictions are necessary to allow for preventive maintenance work on the power line that feeds the Umbelúzi Water Treatment Plant (ETA) in Maputo province.
According to a statement from AdRMM, the supply is expected to resume on Thursday, October 16. The temporary shutdown highlights the critical link between energy infrastructure and public services, underscoring the need for robust planning to mitigate service disruptions for businesses and residents in the capital and its surrounding commercial areas.
