Maputo, Mozambique – The 59th edition of the Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM) kicked off this Monday, August 26, at the Ricatla International Trade Fair and Exhibition Center. This annual event, a cornerstone of Mozambique’s economic calendar, is expected to attract thousands of exhibitors and visitors from both domestic and international markets.

Under the theme “Industrialization: Innovation and Diversification of the National Economy,” FACIM 2024 aims to highlight Mozambique’s growing economic potential and foster partnerships between local and foreign businesses. The fair offers a unique platform for showcasing products and services across various sectors, including agriculture, industry, mining, energy, tourism, and logistics.

“FACIM is more than just a trade fair; it’s a catalyst for economic growth and development,” said Gil Bires, Director-General of the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX), the organizers of the event. “This year, we are particularly focused on promoting exports and strengthening the private sector, especially micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).”

With over 3,300 exhibitors, including 2,300 national companies and 26 country representations, FACIM 2024 is poised to be one of the largest trade fairs in the region. Visitors can expect to see a wide range of products and services, from agricultural produce and industrial machinery to innovative technologies and tourism packages.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, the organizers have implemented enhanced security measures, including increased police presence and private security personnel. “We want visitors to feel confident and secure while attending FACIM,” said Bires. “By working closely with the authorities, we have taken steps to create a welcoming and conducive environment.”

As Mozambique continues to position itself as a strategic investment destination, FACIM 2024 offers a valuable opportunity for businesses to explore new markets, establish partnerships, and contribute to the country’s economic development. With its focus on industrialization and diversification, the fair reflects the nation’s growing ambition to become a more self-sufficient and globally competitive economy.
